Director’s and Producer’s Notes
Banana Man marks Aleks’ first foray into shooting on Super 16mm film. A claustrophobic, post-apocalyptic horror story, it explores the volatile dynamic between captor and captive as they struggle to make sense of a desolate world where survival is the only currency — and trust is the most dangerous gamble of all.
This experimental, and slightly comical, short pays homage to George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead, embracing the raw, tactile energy of classic independent horror filmmaking. With only 11 minutes of film stock, the project became an exercise in precision storytelling and resourceful production, relying on practical techniques and limited resources to craft an intense, immersive experience.
Banana Man has played CypherBlu Film Festival and Soho Film Festival, capturing the hearts and minds of festival goers.
